Biography
“I moved around a lot as a kid – and each new city meant everyone was excited about who this ‘new girl’ was. When we finally planted some roots, and I was no longer the ‘new girl’, I found I didn’t really know who I was. Acting was the experience that helped me define my principles and figure out what I believed in.”
Born in Toronto, raised outside of Halifax and in Ottawa, and formally trained as an actor at Vancouver Film School, Krista has called each end of Canada home.
Krista is a Canadian film, tv, and stage actress with a passion for creating, as well as an award-winning stage director and screen writer.
Since becoming a mom in 2013, Krista can be seen in Clarice, Nikita, Gangland Undercover, and Hemlock Grove shot in Toronto,The Queen on Spades, The Psycho She Met Online and Mommy’s Little Angel shot in Ottawa, and Moonfall, Canadian Detective, Mean Queen, Radio Silence, and Deadly Secrets out of Montreal.
She recently starred as Henrietta Leavitt, a courageous and brilliant female astronomer who measured the universe in the early 1900s, in Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson at the Ron Maslin Playhouse in Ottawa.
Krista won a Rideau Award for her stage directorial debut, The Wolves, by Sarah Delappe, and the show also took home Jury’s Choice.
Krista is in development for her tv series, The Estate, currently set to shoot a phenomenal proof of concept July 2021. DM at @kristamarchand on instagram.
